2006 Pre-Season Tournament

The Cougars hosted their first ever tournament on the 16th September of the pre "06" season , of which both home sides were victorious during 6 hours of exciting Basketball.
The Cougar Juniors beat away teams Baglan Ballers and Beddau to win the Cornelly Council Trophy with some excellent basketball played.
The First senior teams to play were Treorchy Retro against Baglan Ballers, the game was a tight one all the way with some very physical plays with both team coaches being asked to cool their teams down, the games was drawn until the last minute where Treochy pulled away to win the game by 4 clear points.
The 2nd Game was the Cougars against a Baglan side who were still tired after their run around with Treochy, but not to take anything away from the home side who played very well under the coaching of Nathan Merchant winning the game 63 - 29.
The last game of the tournament was the Cougars Seniors against Treorchy Retro which was always going to be a tough one with both teams having a history of battles against one another over the years, especially with the Treorchy coach apologising before the game had started on how tough his team were going to play.
The game started as both coaches thought with both referees blowing their whistles to calm both teams down, Edward Piggford andJonny Owen working each other hard with some cracking fouls, the cougars taking the first quarter 13 - 8. The 2nd quarter was closer with 10 points to the home team and 9 to the away, the Cougars eventually showed their determination, Skill, Fitness and art of keeping their heads under the pressure from the Treorchy squad by pulling away in 3rd and 4th quarter to win the game and the Tournament 44 - 27.
